From last week's Derby Cattlemarket Carboot:
A Brit' WW2 leather tool-case, albeit with its top flap cut off - £1.50!
I saw a pair of S.O.E issue 'Wire Cutters, No.6' and in my disbelievement, didn't buy them, thinking that I was being fanciful and they were actually probably just some very similar looking old-fashioned pruning sheers. Upon getting home and being able to do some photo research, was shocked to find that they were 'Wire Cutters, No.6', so I dashed back down there, albiet too late as the stall had already packed up .
Had hoped to find them again this Sunday, but the snowy conditions meant that not as many stalls turned up today, and the stall wasn't there,
but......From Derby Cattlemarket Carboot today:
yet another WW2 infantry/GS shovel, in pretty good condition - £2!
Don't be too disheartened MV, you normally have such a renowned nose for spotting things(like a Heathrow sniffer dog).. I am sure you will find them next week.

It's silly hats a go-go here: a Polish cavalry rogatywka (thanks Craig) and a French M1926 Adrian helmet shell. The latter will need a bit of restoration work.
This ebay trader has liners and the clips for the M26. http://stores.ebay.co.uk/BOUTIQUE-M/WW2 ... 34.c0.m322
They are about that price through re-enactor sources as well. If you want I can ask some people in le Croix de Lorraine about sources.
To the tune of "Mademoiselle from Armentières"
Napoleons army ran away, As you do
The guard stood firm for Frances Pride, As you do
They said the guard will stand and die
But we heard what their Colonel cried
It wasn't pretty I tell you.
Resistance is fertile

All those French words and a category called 'uniformes' got me all excited, how deflating.

Thanks for that, I'd ordered one on the weekend, got a nice strap from this guy too:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181052772666? ... 1439.l2649
I know it says 1915 but it looks like ones I have seen on pics of 1926 helmets.
Ordered a sidepack and some pouches from Schipper too.
Came through the post this morning; my 1945 dated (aluminium frame) "Carrier, Manpack, GS"!
Now I can lug my Vickers MMG, telephone exchanges, belted ammunition cases, etc... around the battlefield with ease...
Only cost me £17.48, including having the large thing courier posted to me! It was a lucky eBay win, on a badly titled/described item

What a win, thats a great find!
, I've only ever seen them once, and that was in a museum in London
Today I got my RS 1928 wood furniture, going to sort out the reciever on my KA '1928'
Just getting it sorted for Crete...just in case my rifle realises i built it and the inevitable happens

Cheers! Yes, I'd only ever seen post-war ones for sale (sure they look exactly the same, but I like my period dates )
Congrats on getting the 1928 wood! I've got two Brit' M1928 stocks I still need to convert with homemade replica slide-plates (they won't allow the stock to slide off unfortunately, I'm not that clever - but others on this forum have made one that does so!). I look forward to seeing it (hopefully!) completed at Crete.

Rob can we have a game of 'Tommy-Buckaroo'? see how much we can get on the frame before you collapse or whatever

It's a deal!
I'll bring along my collection of belted ammo cases. We'll fill 'em with sand, up to the same weight as 250rnds of Z-grade rounds each, and you can start piling them on...
...anyone taking bets?

Thanks McVickers, it was like a mini Christmas when opening the box. It's seen a few sun rises, that's for sure, but I'll just tell people I had a few scraps in Africa beforehand
I've fitted it now, looks great, but dangerously close to a M1A1 (mainly because it is one, so no finned barrel...and I went for horizontal fore grip too (because old photos I've got show them)) and I can't decide whether to go full hog with the receiver and build it up, or the easier way of cutting the hole in the top of the existing receiver and epoxy up the previous...Anyone know where I can get a '28' bolt from?
Plenty to think about while I'm snowed in!
Anyway I digress, so not to go off topic, I'll make the first bet on 'buckaroo'; threpence on 5 ammo tins, 3 belts and a k ration...
Using the carrier to actually carry a Vickers gun looks a bit...unwieldy.
I can't imagine what the CSM would say if you banged it on a low hanging branch.

That is pure awesome!
On a related note, my good lady has recently knitted me a cap comforter/"commando hat", to an original 1940s 'War Office Approved' pattern for providing your loved one with a home comfort replacement to the regular issue gear. The thickness of wool specified in the original pattern provided a far thicker and warmer cap comforter than the issued item. I'll get photos up soon.

Today I stumbled into Anchor Supplies in Nottingham 5mins before closing time, and rapidly dug out a pile of Enfield rifle slings. Most were blanco'd/painted white for ceremonial use, but I found out 6 pea-green blanco'd (some are dated on the brasswork!) and one black blanco'd sling. I bought the 5 best pea-green blanco'd slings (the 6th was rather tatty, and I've no desire for a black sling)... ...for £2.50 each!
If anyone wants a cheap sling and doesn't mind scrubbing off the white blanco, then there's loads of good condition whitened ones left for the same price.

From Kempton Park Motorcycle Autojumble today:
An unused tin of Pickerings No.103 Khaki Green (Light) Blanco!
(ref: http://www.blancoandbull.com/blanco-history/post-war-blanco/pickerings-103/)
The tin is in really good condition, apart from a few small dents in the base. I found it in the bottom of a box full of bike carb' bits - £2!!!

Hot from Stoneleigh...
A pair of British wire cutters.
Another e tool, wartime pattern helve, not the one with the bayonet lug
Another Lee Enfield bayonet
joy of joys, a telgroika jacket
Quite a bit of Soviet kit there in fact, but unable to get M35 collar insignia apart from one's already sewn to jackets.
Cheers

Glad you found some of what you were going for
How much did you get the e-tool for? Did it include the webbing carrier?

35 quid, which I was happy enough with. Nice unblancoed carrier in excellent condition.
Looking around some other stands I could have bought separate bits to assemble, but hey, whatever.
Bren wallets with tools seemed a tad expensive, maybe next time.
Cheers
